I know when I connect the caravan to a hook up the heater is working fine, but if I try heating it up with the gas it does not work. It is a Carver cascade rapide heater with the switch on the panel in the caravan.
There are basically two ways to get the water into your RV… by connecting a hose to the city water inlet, or by filling your fresh water holding tank. Use a hose that is safe to use for drinking water. If you connect to the city water inlet, always use a pressure regulator. If you fill the fresh water holding tank, make sure the drain valve if there is one is closed. If the tank has a vent tube or valve, the tank will fill faster if the vent is opened.
If the water chugs, glugs or spits back at you when filling the tank, either the tank does not have a vent, the vent is plugged or the vent is shut off. Turn the water faucet down a bit and let the tank fill at its own slow pace. Just turn on the faucets.

I did like it but it did give me a few things to think about. With the Tyre Pal I did like the information, but on a screen that size I would have liked to be able to see all the pressures and temps altogether rather than scrolling through each wheel. It sat there quietly monitoring the wheels and just occasionally flashed at me to say everything was OK…. I did eventually miss not being able to see the pressure and temp of each wheel and started to think my earlier statement was flawed.
I had an issue with the Fit2Go unit at around nine months of using it. The batteries in one of the wheel sensors failed… and a couple of weeks later a second battery went down.

In entry level RVs though, the water heater may only operate in LP gas mode. Water heaters in other motorhomes might operate by a third heating method called Motoraid see more below , which uses waste heat from the motorhome engine to heat the water as you drive. Finally, some high end RVs may have an entirely different system in which the water heater is part of a diesel and electric central heating system, typically either the Aquahot or Hydrohot brand names.
These systems are an entirely different animal and will not be discussed here. A few models are advertised as being 16 gallon heaters, but these are actually 10 gallon heaters that superheat the water and then mix cold water at the outlet, making them roughly equivalent to having a 16 gallon heater at the usual degrees. The RV water heater can be operated in either mode or both can be used to speed up the heating process.
The fresh tank was the first thing I put in the van and everything else was build around it, in a make it up as I go along kind of fashion. I used a common Fiamma 70 Litre fresh water tank (for on-board use) from you guessed it, Amazon (the cheapest I found online was £58 here but most big caravan shops stock them – Magnum and O’leary).

The Which Antifreeze and how often to change How often do you need to change the Antifreeze solution? Well, it depends on the solution that is in there now. Most UK manufactured caravans, certainly my Bailey van, are filled with two year Antifreeze. This means that the solution should be changed when the van is two years old. The reason for changing at this time is that although the anti freezing part is still working, the corrosion inhibiters included in it are reaching the end of their effectiveness.
Alde recommend using a 5 year life solution and you should ensure this is what is used when you get the fluid changed. There is a lot of talk about the need to fully flush the system on changing the fluid and of the non compatibility of Antifreeze solutions. Correspondence with Alde can be read below, but, the main thing that comes out of it is that Comma Xstream G40 is the one to use as it is fully backwards compatible and considerably cheaper than Alde’s own branded one.
I have found that Amazon is the cheapest source for it HERE So, yes it should be flushed on changing but some of the old fluid being left will not react with the new Antifreeze solution. Alde Customer Services Thank you for your enquiry.

Caravan Mover About Caravan Accessories Taking a caravan on holiday can truly be one of the most pleasurable leisure experiences that a family can enjoy. Drawing on left as viewed from van nearside, on right from off-side. The washroom basin taps were intended to double up as the shower head, but this is about to change. If one has space there are advantages in fitting the fresh water tank inside the van. In very cold weather if the van is in use and some space heating is on, then the water in the tank is unlikely to freeze.
The water will not be quite so cold and take less time to heat up – saving on gas if no electric available. It may also be possible to run all the pipes inside the van saving holes through the floor. Beware though, once an insulated van becomes very cold inside, it tends to stay that way and it is very likely any water inside will still freeze! We chose to put the fresh and waste water tanks under the floor simply to save space.
Installation One advantage of using a van popular with professional van converters is that some items are readily available and bolt straight on without too much work.

Permalink I purchased an Aqueous first cousin to the Duoetto, v only water heater for our caravan on 31 March from Aus J Imports. It was used on 3 trips for a total of about 10 weeks in the first year. On the next trip away July the heater was leaking. The ad gave a 12 month warranty but the instruction manual gave a 3 year warranty on the tank.
I contacted the supplier and was advised to strip the insulation and get it welded. I did so and after 8 welds it was still leaking so gave it up. The tank was supposed to be SS. This unit was used for three weeks. Next trip away in February and a check as soon as water was turned on showed the ominous leaks from inside the insulation. I phoned the supplier and he said to put the info in an email. I did so and am still awaiting a reply.
The heaters cannot easily be drained between uses as the inlet has a direct coupled non-return valve and the outlet extends to the top of the tank. It has to be removed from the caravan while full.
